US Food and Drug Administration has recommended consumers not to eat or postpone eating products containing peanut butter. Example of such items are cookies, cereal, candy, crackers etc. So until we get further information on this it is advised to postpone eating these items.
US FDA has taken this step because of an current salmonella outbreak that may have contributed to six deaths and at least 474 people across 43 states fell sick.
