Pine Bark Extract (pycnogenol) arthritis relief

Pine Bark Extract (pycnogenol) arthritis relief

Recent studies in medical research have shown that Pine Bark Extract (pycnogenol), may be helpful in reducing knee arthritis. In addition to the Pine Bark extract's most common use is in preventing and treating a condition known to be chronic venous insufficiency.

This type of Chronic venous insufficiency condition occurs when blood collects in the veins of the legs because valves in the veins that carry blood back to the heart are weak or damaged. Chronic venous insufficiency may cause heavy, itchy, painful, or tired feelings in the legs. Results that are more serious can include varicose veins, swelling, leg sores, or blood clots in the legs.

An extract of pine bark has proven to be one of the most potent antioxidants, a property that may explain why pine bark has been used in folk medicine around the world, according to a new report by scientists at the University of California, Berkeley.

In addition medical research recently have documented a number of strong antioxidant effects of Pycnogenol that place it among the most potent antioxidants, ranking with vitamins E and C, and lipoic acid.

Pine bark extract is made from the bark of a European coastal pine tree called the Landes or maritime pine, whose scientific name is Pinus maritima. The maritime pine is a member of the Pineaceae family. Pine bark extract is a new nutritional supplement used for its antioxidant properties, which are believed to be effective for a wide range of healing and preventative purposes. Pine bark extract has been patented by a French researcher under the name Pycnogenol (pronounced pick-nah-jen-all).

Pregnancy and Fetal Hearing - Teach your children

Pregnancy and Fetal
Modern science has revealed to us that fetuses as young as 20 weeks old can hear (in fact doctors have recorded that some react to ultrasound at 16 weeks onwards). They hear the sounds within the mother’s body as well as external noises. It has also been observed that these fetuses react to sound. They react differently to different types of sound for example they relax on hearing soothing music.

They also start recognizing sounds while still in the womb. They are known to recognize their mother’s voices as well as the voices of other people and even television music that they were regularly exposed to while still in the womb. This shows that fetuses not only have the physical capacity to hear but also the requisite mental capacity to recognize what they have heard.

The Hindu religious texts have mentioned instances where babies in the womb have not just listened to voices while in the womb, but also understood what they heard and remembered it after birth and years later too.

So some points to be noted are
1. It is never too soon to teach our children.

2. We must be very careful and discriminating as to what we expose our children to, even within the womb, not just in terms of chemicals and drugs but also in terms of sounds and knowledge.

So Teach your children well lyrics, good habits, good eating habits, discipline.

Pregnancy and Eczema

Eczema during Pregnancy

Eczema is a difficult thing to handle during normal times and unfortunately if it occurs while a woman is pregnant then it is much more difficult as there may not be a normal treatment that can be undertaken while you are pregnant.

Best way is to apply a natural moisturizer and avoid contact with too much of water. Contact your doctor before taking any medicine if you are suffering from Eczema.

There are some Ayurvedic and Homeopathy treatments that you can consider after consulting with the doctor.

Shingles | Herpes

Shingles and Herpes

Shingles is a reactivation of the herpes zoster virus (varicella-zoster virus). This same virus that causes chickenpox. The chickenpox virus (varicella) remains in a dormant state in the body in the root of nerves that control sensation.

When a person gets Shingles, it means that this virus is activated in the body and this virus then travels along a sensory nerve into the skin causing a painful rash known as shingles.

The pain is very accute and generally is also very sensitive to air, clothes etc. There are medicines available that will take care of this virus. An immediate doctors attention is very important for the persons sufferring from this.

Patients must take care of extra pre-cautions during this time and rest is very much recommended even after the pain is reduced to avoid PHN.

Cluster Headache Symptoms Pain Cure and Treatment

Cluster Headaches Symptoms, Pain, Cure and Treatment

Cluster headaches is intense one-sided pain centered by the eye or temple. The pain occurs periodically with different people suffering from this have a different cycles of this painful attack.

Typically these attacks lasts for more than an hour and may occur once or more within a day. Each attack period can be up to 2-3 weeks (there have been cases reported on web of an extended period of cluster attacks).

These occur mostly in men and may last upto 15-20 years. There is no straight forward cure for this even though different people try different things to see if anything works for them. I have seen people doing jogging, swimming jumping, screaming when they are in an attack.

Some people may prefer to stay calm and in slight dark place when this cluster attack occurs. For more information on this visit the wiki site and also subscribe to cluster head ache blogs and forums.
